Energy China signs contract for 500 MW photovoltaic project in Bangladesh

Energy China International Group and Beringia Energy Global signed an EPC framework contract for the 500-megawatt photovoltaic project in Bahara Chara, Bangladesh, in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, realizing the rolling development of the Bangladeshi market.

The project is located in Bansu Sukali Town, Chittagong District, Bangladesh, about 45 kilometers away from the city center of Chittagong. The main project includes the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of 500 MW photovoltaic power station and supporting power transmission and transformation projects. The “rolling development” model promotes project development and construction in stages.

Currently, renewable energy accounts for less than 3% of the country’s installed power capacity in Bangladesh. In the future, it will vigorously support the development and construction of clean energy and continue to optimize the energy structure. The location of the project is rich in solar energy resources. After the project is completed, it will provide sufficient power to the surrounding areas and significantly increase the proportion of renewable energy in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is the core market of China Energy Construction in South Asia. Group member companies have successively built Bibiana Combined Cycle Power Plant, Shaji Bazaar Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, Payara Coal-fired Power Plant and Mymensingh Photovoltaic Project in Bangladesh. In the implementation of a series of power projects such as the Margarita Phase II Combined Cycle Power Plant, the Margarita Phase III Combined Cycle Power Plant, and the Boduakali Coal-fired Power Plant, it has made important contributions to the development of power in Bangladesh.
