Samsung Engineering, South Korea announced in a statement, that it received a contract for the Jafurah Gas Process Package #1 Project from Saudi Aramco at a formal contract signing ceremony held at Al-Ghawar Hall, Aramco Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
The value of the contract is $1.23 billion.
The formal contract signing ceremony was attended by Saudi Arabian minister of energy, Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Aramco’s Amin H. Nasser, President and chief executive officer and Samsung Engineering’s Sungan Choi, President and CEO.
This major project marks the first shale gas development in Saudi Arabia. Samsung Engineering is delighted for the great opportunity to participate and contribute towards it. This project is part of the Jafurah shale gas field development located 400 km east of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The project is expected to be completed in 2025.
Samsung Engineering will build a gas treatment facility that will remove sulfur and other substances from 1.1 billion cubic feet of gas per day(550 cubic feet of gas per day x 2 Trains).
The goal of the project is to produce Sales Gas, NGL, Ethane, Sulfur and Stabilized Condensate. Samsung Engineering plans to independently build and complete the project.
The scope of work includes a Slug Catcher, Acid Gas Removal Unit (AGRU), Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Recovery, Mercury Removal and Dehydration.
Samsung Engineering has extensive experience by performing in constructing treatment facilities in the past. It plans to fully apply its know-how and technology in carrying out this project. Samsung Engineering further has a long and successful track record in Saudi Arabia and with Aramco projects, delivering them for Aramco since 2007.
